Mixed Migration and the way out

The Mixed Migration & assumption of improved living
A case study with prospects for solutions to mixed migration on the Horn of Africa and Yemen.
Base line:

Mixed migration is a serious live and economic threat to both rich and poor countries?

As we are entering new features of 21st century, trends of events of mixed migration are becoming more shocking than ever. Since the end of the cold war the socio-economic formation of nations has changed dramatically. Free economic market overtakes the whole world. Production of developing countries affected the economic market of the developed and vise-versa. The world is becoming unique and under one environment for no one has a free ticket to another planet to live we, the people on    earth must be united.

The trend of mixed migration e.g. asylum seekers, refugees and all other economic migrants from developing countries routing to rich countries through numerous risks which will eventually end up on illegal cross boarders.  These people may even face death before reaching their promised heaven of their desire.

In the case of this article we look to what it means mixed migration to . is one the transit countries for migrants and refugees. Yemeni authorities talk on half a million Somalis are in who are fleeing from the civil war and chaos in Somalia. However due to political unrest and draughts in the Horn of Africa region; the refugees are accompanied by many other asylum seekers and economic migrants from nations of the Horn of Africa producing more displacement.

is such a poor country with per capita income of less than us $ 2.00 per day and with a population of 22,000,000.00 with high rate of illiteracy and unemployment.

This influx of population movement has an enormous impact to the Yemeni economy its stability and the region. UNHCR, IOM and other international organizations tend to help Yemeni authorities to better understand and address such issues. Since Yemen  is one of the signatures of the international conventions and protocols.

In 2008 IOM together with UNHCR conducted an international conference on Mixed Migration intending to draw the attention of the international community to share the pardon facing.

For instance, twenty years since the collapse of the former Somali regime many of this population is universally within Yemen. Most them are jobless, refugee children can not excess to higher education, no hope for voluntary repatriation, the camp cannot accommodate such many urban refugees, rents in urban cities are hiking, resettlement is no solution for hundreds of thousands of urban refugees.

The international communities realize such situations in Yemen or in Morocco, Libya, Syria and Lebanon.   Refugees in these areas are in desperate situation. UNHCR and international and local NGOs are in receipt of similar scenarios: woman with so many children lost support and protection of husband because of conflict in her country because of tribal cleansing, genocide to family members etc. and after the flight experiencing serious life problems with children  because of their legal statues in the country of asylum. The only solution is continued run until he/she finds complete dignity for existence.

British Prime Minister, Mr. Golden Brown while addressing to the American Congress during March 2009 said; "Prosperity has no value once the majority of us are suffering adversity of life".

The point of Somali Community:
Introduce this speculation to developing countries and help refugees in poorer countries as such. UNHCR operations in developing countries have the records and the profile of refugees specially on the case to case management in Yemen and can be sent to donor countries with full context of that file through their embassies. All those vulnerable cases to be registered with donor governments and can be assisted by sending them remittance   from the pardon sharing budget of their respective institutions through recognized financial institutions equally as those  officially  recognized refugees  in the donor countries, thus this will help vulnerable families to generate and educate their children, live in dignity  and eventually protect themselves from smugglers circles to grab them. Consequently, avoid direct dealing with corrupt authorities to manage refugee’s donations from donors.

Somali Community is one of the NGOs that can play a role in providing the profile of the most vulnerable urban Somali refugees in Yemen.

This will help reduce current trend of illegal mixed migration to developed countries. This speculation can be applied to other countries that are mentioned on the 10 Point Plan of Action delivered by UNHCR.

Eventually the program policy of organizations can:

a)      Diagnose multi migration centers in those regions specify the problem and its scope.

b)      To monitor the policy implementation to know the success and short coming of such program.

c)      To evaluate after a period of whether the objectives are realized or not

d)      Conduct a dialogue to get what are the priorities and preferences of beneficiary
