 A Call for Wisdom, Dialogue, and Constitutional Resolution

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh (ASWW),

Differences among political parties are normal in every society. However, resolving political disputes requires wisdom, patience, and responsible leadership.

If we examine the current situation academically, we may identify three principal positions:

- Party A seeks to remain in office or  continue .......

- Party B seeks a change of leadership based on constitutional agreements reached in previous years.

- Party C also seeks a change according to previous constitutional agreements but through a different political approach and methodology.

While these positions may differ, it is important to remember that all parties belong to the same people, the same nation, and the same faith. They are political competitors, not enemies. Every party has the right to participate in the political process, and every party carries a responsibility toward the Somali people.

Key Principles

1. Responsibility Before Allah (SWT)

Every Muslim leader and political actor must remember that they are accountable before Allah (SWT) for their actions. Therefore, all parties should reject violence, intimidation, and the use of armed force as a means of resolving political disagreements.

2. Seeking Legitimacy from the Somali People

Political legitimacy should be derived from the Somali people, their elders, religious scholars, constitutional institutions, and cultural traditions. National decisions should be guided primarily by the interests and aspirations of the Somali people rather than external pressures or foreign influence.

3. Commitment to Dialogue

Political disagreements should be addressed through continuous dialogue, consultation, and negotiation. Sufficient time should be given to allow peaceful discussions to continue until a mutually acceptable solution is reached.

The Way Forward

Parties A, B, and C should each present a clear roadmap outlining:

- Their vision for Somalia.

- Their proposed reforms and development priorities.

- Evidence of how they intend to achieve their objectives.

- Their commitment to peace, stability, and national unity.

Once these roadmaps are presented and discussed, all parties should commit themselves to a constitutionally agreed electoral process that reflects the will of the Somali people.

Conclusion

Somalia's future is greater than the ambitions of any individual or political group. National unity, peace, and stability must remain the highest priorities. Through wisdom, dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to constitutional principles, political differences can be transformed into opportunities for strengthening democracy and nation-building.
